The Indigo Collection
THE INDIGO COLLECTION
There have been moments during the collection that made me feel so alive
In that moment, nothing else mattered
The reality did not matter
It felt like all the cells of my body were in harmony and there was such energy through it all.
The ambience of my studio was controlled. From the music to the scent,
it all reminded me of home.
The longing to be home increased. It had been a tough year for us as a unit.
It had been a tough year for us individually as well… by us I mean , myself , my beloved and my baby.
The urge to be there for our families was increasing and thus the longing increased.
The borders are still shut and I cannot travel or visit home for another year.
This longing to be home has manifested itself as the indigo collection.
The paintings that came out of me , I believe are from a deep need for my heart and mind to find calm and belonging
wherever I am till I am physically able to visit home.
It also revealed a lot. It made me believe that I can find belonging where I am without being where I think I should be.
Lot of ahas, introspective and thought provoking moments happened as this collection unveiled itself.
In retrospect, I can see the longing for familiarity in the seascapes and mountain ranges
because no matter where you are in the world, the depth of water and the mighty mountains give you the same feeling.
They remind you of how small you and thus how small your problems are when you compare it to something so mighty and deep.
The initial layer of the canvas is rough and imperfect much of a representation of what 2020 has been.
Its been rough but it has also fuelled immense self growth and healing and that is what this collection stands for.
